Community Outreach

Makoa Quest’s Community Outreach is the heartbeat of our mission. Our outreach efforts are rooted in reciprocity, cultural integrity, and collective restoration.

Roots & Renewal Program

Our primary Community Outreach initiative is the Roots and Renewal program, a two-day monthly gathering held at our living classroom and agroforestry sanctuary in Haiku. This immersive event brings together residents, cultural practitioners, farmers, and volunteers to engage in meaningful land-based work, ceremony, and shared learning. It is a space where restoration of the land becomes a mirror for restoring ourselves and our relationships to place.

We believe that healing the land goes hand in hand with uplifting the people who call it home.

Whether through teaching, feeding, planting, or simply showing up for one another, we are building the village it takes to care for both ʻāina and ʻohana. Through Roots and Renewal and other partnerships with schools, local organizations, and kūpuna, we co-create experiences that foster environmental stewardship, cultural revitalization, and intergenerational connection.

Want to get involved?

From youth mentorship and breathwork to syntropic agriculture and communal meals, our outreach efforts are designed to empower Maui’s people to be active participants in building a resilient and culturally grounded future.
