Education

Makoa Quest’s educational programs are rooted in hands-on, land-based learning that weaves together traditional ecological knowledge with modern regenerative practices.
Held at The Forests of Peʻahi, our education experiences invite participants into a living classroom where learning is embodied, collaborative, and directly connected to the rhythms of nature.
Through guided trail walks, agroforestry practice, and cultural interpretation, students and participants learn not just about the land, but with the land. Core teachings include syntropic agriculture, Korean Natural Farming, invasive species identification and removal, trail building, and the planting of indigenous plants using restoration methods aligned with Maui’s unique ecosystems.
Our approach is experiential and reciprocal
Every lesson is an opportunity to cultivate relationship; with the forest, with food systems, and with each other. By tending to the land, students gain the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become stewards of a regenerative future.
Want to get involved?
Whether you're a school group, educator, visitor, or curious learner, Mākoa Quest’s education offerings reconnect people to place through meaningful, embodied learning that lasts far beyond the forest.
